Juan Govea
Company Founder and Lead Carpenter
Juan Govea is a first-generation immigrant to Canada from Venezuela and a 10-Year Red Seal Carpenter. Juan embarked on his professional construction journey in Calgary, expanding his expertise in Victoria and Prince George. Managing crews on various framing projects, Juan brings extensive experience in Condo, Townhome, Custom Home, and Multi-family framing construction.
Juan rejects the “Rough Carpentry” approach. Instead, every project he undertakes reflects a level of accuracy typically associated with high-end finishing carpentry. An expert framer, Juan is fueled by a passion for delivering the utmost quality and passing on his skills to the next generation of tradespeople.
As the Production Manager and Lead Carpenter at HIPPO Home, Juan oversees all production aspects and monitors the learning outcomes of apprentices. Whether swinging a hammer on-site, teaching apprentices, or meticulously examining blueprints, Juan ensures that no detail is overlooked.
With Juan at the helm of your project’s production, rest assured that accuracy, precision, and attention to detail are the benchmarks against which he measures himself.
Michael Orr
Co-Founder and Operations Manager
Michael Orr is a University of Calgary alumni and serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces reserve. As an experienced small business owner, Michael brings his expertise in balancing deadlines and difficult objectives with employee satisfaction and customer expectations.
Michael is strongly influenced by the Servant Leadership approach to management and believes that what is best for the team, is best for the customer.
As operation manager, Michael is responsible for liaising with customers and overseeing the administrative aspects of the company. On any given day you could expect to see him working on site alongside Juan, preparing contracts and quotes, implementing and following up on safety issues or proactively addressing friction points with the customer or general contractor.
Michael’s dedication to the employees of HIPPO Home and to the outcomes promised to our customers ensures a smooth project with clear communication and expectations in all aspects.
